A Little History

The Yellow Church Cafe was indeed a church. It was built in 1923 for the German Lutherans. Since then, the building has served many purposes such as a private residence, an architectural office, an art gallery, and finally a restaurant. Gordy and Cathy Wollen, owners and both P.K.'s (Preacher's Kids) are especially glad to see the church preserved and serving the Ellensburg community as a cafe. They both feel the name and historical significance of the restaurant adds a little more flavor and culture to the already unique city of Ellensburg.

A Word From Gordy and Cathy

We have always tried to serve the community in any way possible. We try to serve Ellensburg by providing a fun place where people can meet, eat some food, share stories, and create long lasting memories.

The Yellow Church Cafe is also a great place for students to work. We know what it's like to be working through school, so we try to offer flexible schedules for students to help them earn their way.

Recently we opened Ellensburg WineWorks which now participates in the Friday Art Walks and hosts monthly Wine Dinners, featuring local wine makers, at the restaurant. Please visit the WineWorks website for more information.

We believe small businesses are the backbone to any community. We try to maintain the small town lifestyle by offering unique food and unique service in a unique building. We love to serve, and we aim to please. Thank-You!
